HHN Hollywood Review Roundup

A couple of Halloween Horror Nights reviews and a quick update about this week.
  • ThrillRide!: Robert Coker over at ThrillRide! hit up the West Coast HHN on Saturday and generally had positive things to say about the event. While he admitted it's "not as grand in scope as Knott's Scary Farm's Haunt," Coker thought HHN Hollywood was "still rockin', with a couple of stand-out mazes." He loved the attention to detail that went into the make-up, special effects and set design. He also had good things to say about the mazes, but he called House of Horrors "the least goose-pimple-raising maze of the night" because it's barely different from its daytime counterpart. In the end, he still believes Knott's "owns the title belt for West Coast Halloween events," but "none of Scary Farm mazes competes with the level of finish you'll find at the best of the Universal attractions."

  • Theme Park Village: Eric at Theme Park Village posted some photos of HHN, as well as pictures from Universal's Eyegore Awards — a horror awards show held every year on the opening night of HHN. This year, the show was hosted by Corey Feldman. Moving on to the event, Eric thought this year's Bill and Ted Show was "hilarious" — much better than the previous year. He also posted pictures of director Tobe Hooper wandering through the Texas Chainsaw Massacre maze, which is appropriate considering Hooper was the director of the first two Texas Chainsaw Massacre films. (I wonder if he's trying to direct the scare actors in that second picture.)

If you haven't seen it yet, here's a video Universal released of the Eyegore Awards and opening night at HHN Hollywood.

One final note, I'll be hitting up Busch Gardens Europe's Howl-O-Scream on Sunday, so expect some pictures and a trip report next week.
